Colosseum Ruins

From this view of the structure we can see that the colosseum was made up elliptical rings of arches and vaults. Once completely circling the stucture, this side betrays the years of abuse that have befallen the building.
Over the centuries, the walls of the Colosseum were systematically torn down to be reused as building material for churches, bridges and other structures around Rome.
