Roman Colosseum


The first superdome. Building began under Vespasian in 72-75 A.D. Inaugurated by Titus in 80 A.D. It was built by 40,000 slaves brought from to year after the destruction of Jerusalem in the year 70 A.D.

It even had a retractable roof called the Velarium. This was made up of large canvas sheets that could be hauled into place with ropes, leaving a circular space in the center.
